Societys » Community selective waste collection

Based on its social and environmental responsibilities, Furnas has implemented the Community Selective Waste Collection Program to comply with Decree 5940, which determines that bodies and entities under direct and indirect federal public administration are required to separate recyclable waste and donate it to associations and cooperatives of recyclable material collectors.

The program's main goal is to help mitigate environmental problems and to increase education and activities protecting the environment and supporting social issues, as well as providing collectors of recyclable material with social and economic support.

As part of the program, Furnas hosted the 1st Form of Federal Bodies on September 23, 2008, in Rio de Janeiro, where Community Selective Waste Collection and Decree 5940/06 were discussed.
