Accessibility

The FURNAS Portal follows the eMAG guidelines (Model of Accessibility in Electronic Government), according to the rules of the federal government, in compliance with Decree 5.296, dated December 2, 2014.

Accessibility means including people with disabilities in the activities such as the use of products, services and information. Examples include buildings with wheelchair access ramps and toilets adapted for the disabled.

On the Internet, accessibility refers mainly to the guidelines included in W3C's WCAG (World Content Accessibility Guide) and, in the case of the Brazilian government, in eMAG (eGovernment Accessibility Model). eMAG is in line with international recommendations, but establishes standards of accessible behavior for government websites.

At the top of the FURNAS website there is an accessibility bar with standardized navigation shortcuts and the option to change the contrast. These tools are available on all pages of the portal.

The standard shortcuts for the Federal Government are:

  • By pressing Alt + 1 on any page of the website, you can get directly to the beginning of the main content of the page.
  • By pressing the Alt + 2 key on any page of the website, you can directly reach the beginning of the main menu.
  • By pressing the Alt + 3 key on any page of the website, you can directly access the internal search
  • By pressing Alt + 4 on any page of the website, you can directly reach the footer of webpage.

These shortcuts are valid for the Chrome browser, but there are some variations for other browsers:

  • In Internet Explorer, you need to press the Enter button on your keyboard after one of the above combinations. Therefore, to get to the internal search field you need to press Alt + 3 and then Enter.
  • If using Firefox, instead of Alt + number, simultaneously press Alt + Shift + number.
  • If using Firefox on Mac OS, instead of Alt + Shift + number, simultaneously press Ctrl + Alt + number.
  • In Opera, the keys are Shift + Escape + number. By typing only Shift + Escape, the user will find a window with all ACCESSKEY alternatives that the page provides.
