São Manoel Plant


The São Manoel Hydroelectric Plant is in the middle portion of the Teles Pires River, on the state border between Mato Grosso and Pará, in the cities of Paranaíta and Jacareacanga.

Jointly owned by shareholders EDP BRASIL S.A. (33.334%), FURNAS Centrais Elétricas e (33.333%) and China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG) (33.333%), the São Manoel HEP has an installed capacity of 735.84 MW. This provides the National Interconnected System (SIN) with enough energy to serve a population of about 2.5 million people, capable of supplying a city about four times the size of Cuiabá and one and a half times the size of Belém.
